Your Next Getaway; Greece

We are back from our honeymoon and I am ready to tell you everything you need to know about our trip! I will share where we stayed, things to do and smart tips when traveling to Greece. Before I get into details, let me just tell you that Greece was even better than we imagined and was the trip of a lifetime! We enjoyed every minute of it and told each other that this would not be our last time.

We started our journey in the beautiful city of Athens. If you do not already know, you need to fly into Athens first and take another flight or ferry to the other islands. We decided to explore Athens for two days before going to the islands and it was such a good decision!

Joe and I stayed at The Divani Palace. The hotel was clean and in a great location, but nothing special. We didn't want to spend much money while in Athens and figured we would be out of the room most of the day. It did have breakfast included (which most hotels have in Greece) and it was a huge money saver!

We got in around 10:30am local time and went to out hotel and CRASHED for 4 hours! We slept a good amount on the plane but were still so drained. We woke up and had dinner on the rooftop of our hotel that had a view of the Acropolis. We enjoyed lamb chops and fried zucchini while sipping on a bottle of red.

The next day we got up early because we had a tour planned by our travel agent. Joe and I are not big on group tours, but really wanted to see the Acropolis and gave it a try. About an hour in, we ditched the group and toured by ourselves! If you want to hear about all of the history or have tons of questions I would recommend sticking with your guide, but if your just looking to roam around on your own, you can totally do that too! We saw everything we needed to on or own time.

After the tour we headed to The Plaka for some food and drinks. There are tons of shops and restaurants. We ended up stopping at a few different places just to try a drink and one app and were on our way!

The next day we woke up at the crack of dawn to catch the ferry to Mykonos. The ferry runs every day and stops at all of the major islands. From Athens to Mykonos, it takes about 2.5 hours on ferry. I absolutely HATE flying so I did not mind the time at all! On the ferry they have a cafe with the best cappuccinos and you can also hang on the deck and catch some rays which is always a plus.

We got to Mykonos and immediately went to our room to put on our bathing suits and lay out by the pool. We stayed at the Royal Myconian Resort and it was beautiful! The resort has a pool, spa, gym, restaurant and a private beach. If we wanted to, we could have stayed on the resort the whole four days and just chill but we wanted to explore the island. Here are a few pics of our room and the view of the pool. If you are not sure where to stay in Mykonos, I highly recommend any of the Myconian Collection Hotels!

So Mykonos is well known for it's beaches & parties and that is certainly what we did! Here is a short list of some places you NEED to go to while in Mykonos!

1. Scorpios - great spot for dinner (must make reservations) and also has the "biggest party on the island" every Sunday

2. Nammos - we never made it but I heard amazing things! Great beach party and night club

3. Tropicana Beach Bar - this place was so awesome! It was about 30 mins away from our hotel, but we spent the whole day there drinking, eating and dancing. The food is pretty cheap and we rented bean bag chairs on the beach for 10 Euros each. They had a DJ start at 4pm and the party was crazy! We stayed from about 11am-8pm at night and then went back to the hotel.

4. RACELAND Kart - Joe is a huge NASCAR fan so when he saw this place we had to check it out. It was a huge go-kart racetrack in the middle of the island. Joe drove a go-kart for like 10 minutes for dirt cheap and had a blast! I had fun watching and taking cute pictures of him on the sidelines :)

After Mykonos we were pooped. We were running at 1,000 miles and staying up super late every night which was amazing, but very tiring. We were so excited to get to Santorini (our last stop) and relax. We hopped on the ferry after 4 days in Mykonos and made it to a place that will always have a piece of our hearts.

I think everyone recognizes the social media pictures of the blue domes and white buildings. I know it sounds cheesy, but when we saw this view we both looked at each other and Joe said to me, "Now this feels like a honeymoon." He was totally right. Up until that point we were running around touring, catching ferries and partying our butts off. It was the most breathtaking view we have seen in our lives. I literally cannot put it in words how incredible it was.

We stayed in a Small Luxury Hotel called On The Rocks. The hotel is in a town called Imerovigli which is a 10 minute walk to Fira. We had our own little deck where we were served breakfast every morning. Can you imagine starting your day like this every day?!

Santorini has so many exciting and fun things to do. We could have honestly spent a whole week there. One of my favorite things we did, and something that I think everyone should do is go to a winery. There are tons of them on the island but we went to one called Venestanos. We did a food paring and wine tasting for 25 Euros per person and it was so amazing! We sat on top of a mountain with a gorgeous view and sipped on yummy wine. We loved the Rose so much we ended up buying a bottle to take home with us and agreed to not open it until our first anniversary. The food they gave us was so good and was plenty to fill us up the whole day!

Head to the Shop My Look section to get this look!!

One of our last days in Santorini we decided to rent an ATV and tour the island. One of the main things to see is Red Beach which was on the opposite end of where we were staying. We had the ATV for 24 hours and made the most of it. We grabbed a map, and started our journey!

The first place we went to was Reach Beach. If you wanted to, you could rent beach chairs and spend the day there, but we decided to keep exploring.

Not far from Red Beach is another beautiful beach called, Katharos. Before heading to the beach we found this cute bar and grabbed yet another delicious daiquiri. After we were refreshed, we toured the rocky beach and were on our way again.

We decided to make the trip to Oia, since that is the most famous town is Santorini. Now don't get me wrong, Oia is absolutely stunning but is very comparable to Fira in my eyes. If you are planning a trip to Santorini, don't worry about where you are staying because you can honestly get from one end of the island and back in about an hour.

To make it easier for you, here are my suggestions of what to do while in Santorini:

1. Visit Red Beach & Katharos Beach

2. Make a day trip to another town you are not staying in

3. Have dinner with a sunset view (Kapari Wine Restaurant was so delicious and had the best view!!)

4. Visit a winery

5. Rent an ATV (every day if you can!)

6. Hike Skaros Mountain (be prepared, it is kind of scary!!)

7. Keep walking. You will end up finding cute little shops, bars, restaurants is you keep exploring :)
